Today’s Weather: Cool start, mild afternoon, showers late

Thursday starts sunny and chilly, with temperatures in the low 40s early and a light north-northwest breeze. It is a jacket kind of morning, but the bright sky helps. Feels like temperatures are in the mid-40s, so it is not quite as cold as the thermometer suggests.

By afternoon, sunshine mixes with a few clouds as temperatures climb to a high near 65. Winds shift to the southwest at around 7 mph, with gusts up to 15 mph. Rain is not likely during the day, with only a small chance of a stray shower.

During the evening, clouds gradually increase and temperatures ease back through the 50s. Conditions stay fairly quiet for a while, making it a decent evening to be outside if you do not mind a little cool air.

Overnight, a couple of light showers move in, with rain chances jumping to 84 percent. The low will be around 42, and a light northwest wind will keep things feeling a bit brisk.

The allergy index is led by tree pollen, which is very high today. Grass, mold and ragweed levels are low.

Friday looks cooler, with a high near 60 and a low around 44. Expect a mix of clouds and sun through the day, with dry weather and a light north wind.
