GLEN CARBON – Riley Ramsey, a golfer at Father McGivney Catholic High School, has signed with Illinois College, a decision Ramsey said reflects years of work and a supportive recruiting process.
“It means a lot to sign with Illinois College,” she said. ” I have put in a lot of work over the past four years, and it is paying off.”
Ramsey said the opportunity at Illinois College stood out because of the way the program handled an injury during the high school season.
“The coach at Illinois College was super accepting – I was injured at midseason this year and he was super understanding of that and not pushing toward anything,” Ramsey said. “I really liked the coaches at Illinois College.”
Ramsey also pointed to the environment at Father McGivney as an important part of the journey to the college level.
“Father McGivney means a lot to me, ” she said of her time at the school. “The coaching staff and teammates mean a lot.”
At Illinois College, Ramsey plans to study criminal justice.
