SPRINGFIELD — On Friday, the Chicago Bears organization announced it will advance its stadium development in Hammond, Indiana. Upon learning the news, State Senator Jason Plummer (R-Edwardsville) issued the following statement: “While I cannot say I am shocked by today’s announcement, I am extremely disappointed that Illinois has once again found itself on the losing end because of failed leadership in Springfield.
“The Chicago Bears moving forward with stadium development in Hammond, Indiana, is not just a sports story. It is another warning sign that Illinois is losing jobs, investment, families, businesses, and now even one of its most iconic institutions because Governor Pritzker and his Democrat allies refuse to get serious about the direction of this state.
“This is what happens when state leaders are more focused on national political ambitions than fixing the problems right in front of them. Illinois should be a place where people and businesses want to build, grow, and stay. Under Governor Pritzker’s leadership, too many are looking for the exits.
“The Bears’ decision should be a wake-up call, but if history has shown us anything, it’s definitely that Pritzker doesn’t learn from his mistakes.”
