Mary J. Burris, 88, of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024. She was born February 28, 1936, in Granite City, a daughter of the late Alex and Ann (Dennis) Urban. She married David L. Burris on December 19, 1953, in Granite City and he passed away on April 12, 2012. Mary cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be remembered for her love and special times shared with her family. She loved shopping, enjoyed her days of camping and had a love for dogs. She is survived by three children and spouses, Diana Wilmsmeyer of Granite City, Terry and Sherry Burris of Granite City and Barbara and Robert Gavillet of Granite City; three grandchildren, Matthew McKee, Kristen and Tom Collins and Justin and Courtney Gavillet; five great grandchildren, Parker Collins, Carter Collins, Reagan Gavillet, Tucker Collins and Karsyn Gavillet; other extended famiy and friends. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alex Urban.
In celebration of her life, a visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Friday, October 18, 2024, from 11 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Sandra Monroe officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
