Kathryn “Kay” Pinegar Greene, age 100, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2025, at Well Care of Maryville, IL. Kay was born October 6, 1924, in Harrisburg, IL, a daughter of the late Denver “Buster” Goodwin and Eva (Stille) Goodwin.
On February 28, 1946, Kay Goodwin married Raliegh Pinegar, the love of her life and Raliegh passed away on September 1, 1962. Kay retired as an LPN from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City, IL, after 30 plus years of dedicated service. She enjoyed sewing and was a talented seamstress. Kay also enjoyed traveling to all 50 states and several foreign countries. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and spoiling her grandchildren. Kay will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by her sisters, Billie Jean Townsend and Betty Phillips.
Kay is survived by her loving children, John (Pamela) Pinegar of Edwardsville, IL, Patricia Pinegar of Maryville, IL and Debra (Mark) Coy of Maryville, IL, proud grandmother to Gabrielle (Craig) Arnold, Justin (Jessica) Pinegar, Andrew Pinegar, Blake Pinegar, Amy (Aaron) Ellis, TJ (Bethany) Lybarger, April (Ryan) Haddix, Mark (Christina) Coy and Melissa (Ryan) Earnest, proud great-grandmother to Ben, Eli, Issac, Courtney (Kevin), Taylor (Seth), Grace, Gage, Faith, James, Kathryn, Mila, Ellaina, Charlie and Sabrina, proud great-great-grandmother to Rory, Barrett and Kipton, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In celebration of her life, the visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Irwin Chapel, Granite City, IL. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, with Pastor Sharon Autenrieth officiating. Kay will be laid to rest next to Raliegh at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
Memorial donations may be given to BJC Hospice. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel.
