
Timothy P. Karius, 76, of Maryville, Illinois passed away at 5:27 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois.
He was born August 16, 1949, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late William and Helen (Berry) Karius.
Tim married the love of his life, Deborah L. (Sipes) Karius on June 19, 1971, at the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Granite City and she survives.
He retired in 2011 from Res-Com in St. Charles, Missouri after over 40 years of service as a cement mason with the Cement Mason’s Local #527. The United States Army veteran proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed his days of fishing and camping and was creative with his painting ability. He cherished his family and will be remembered for his sweet, funny and outgoing personality.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Cherie and John Galinski of Troy and Kimberly and Walter Zabawa of Collinsville; five grandchildren, Conner Zabawa, Johnny Galinski, Colbey Zabawa, Kylie Zabawa and Jason Galinski; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Carol Karius of St. Jacob and Rudy and Carolyn Rangel of Glen Carbon; sister-in-law, Edna Karius of Lemay, Missouri; nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Karius.
In celebration of his life, a private graveside service will be held at Jefferson Barrack National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
