GRANITE CITY – A Granite City man faces a Class X felony after invading a local residence and using a BB gun to batter one of the home’s occupants.
Keith D. Walker, 60, of Granite City, was charged on Dec. 22, 2025, with a Class X felony count of home invasion.
On Dec. 20, 2025, Walker allegedly knowingly and unlawfully entered an occupied residence on State Street in Granite City and struck one of the home’s occupants in the head with a BB gun modeled after a Glock 17 handgun.
A petition to deny Walker’s pretrial release was filed by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office. According to the petition, the victim told authorities that Walker “entered his residence and battered him while he was in his bed.”
“Victim reported the defendant was not allowed to enter his home,” the petition continues. “Further, the victim reported that the defendant battered him by striking him about the head with a firearm that was later determined to be a BB gun.”
Walker reportedly later admitted to being at the residence and “being involved in an altercation with the victim.”
The Granite City Police Department presented the case against Walker, who was ordered remanded to jail for his initial court appearance.
All individuals charged are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
