Carol Sue Longust, nee Behnen, 86, of Belleville, IL, born November 10, 1939, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Addington Place, Shiloh, IL, surrounded by her family.
Carol loved to sing and was known for her wonderful sense of humor, warm heart, devotion to God, and unwavering love for her family. She brought laughter, kindness, and love wherever she went and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Carol was the beloved wife of the late David Lee Longust of Belleville, IL, with whom she married on December 26, 1959, and worked alongside for many years at Medic Pharmacy. She was also preceded in passing by her dear parents, Joseph “Bud” and Verna, nee Schneider, Behnen.
Carol was a devoted mother to Brian (Sandra J.) Longust of Belleville, IL, Theodore Longust, Paul (Sandy K.) Longust of Effingham, IL, Kelly (Stephen) Parnas of Town and Country, MO, Stacey (Dr. Robert) Moody of San Carlos, CA, and Alicia Longust, whom she loved as family; she was also a cherished grandmother to Connor (Emily) Longust, Hannah (Scott) Geolat, Chloe Longust, Rachel Longust, Andrew Parnas, Matthew Parnas, Ava Moody, and Jake Moody; she was blessed to be a great-grandmother to Calla Sue Geolat; and Carol is also survived by her loving brothers, Jack Behnen and Bill Behnen.

A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2026, at Eckert’s Cider Shed, Belleville, IL.
A private family burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
