CHARLESTON – As expected, Edwardsville and Alton are set for strong finishes in Saturday’s IHSA Class 3A State Girls Track and Field Finals.
Sophie Shapiro led Edwardsville qualifying in the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, and two relays. Rayna Raglin of Alton qualified in all three of her events – the 100, 200, and 400-meter races.
Edwardsville’s girls track and field team had a big day on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the IHSA Class 3A Prelims with 14 qualifiers for Saturday, May 23, 2026, finals.
The Tigers are poised to capture a top team finish on Saturday with so many qualifiers for the finals.
Raglin advanced in the 100 in first place in a time of 11.82, then also advanced in the 200 meters in third place with a time of 24.25 and ninth in the 400 meters (57.19).

Discus – Jayla Gathing, third place, 42.96 meters and Joi Story, 10th place, 37.60 meters.
Shot Put – Joi Story, first place, 13.52 meters
Long Jump – Gestes, sixth place, 5.53 meters.
3,200 Meters – Morgan Popelar and MacKenna Kerpan
