ST. LOUIS COUNTY – St. Louis County Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that injured two juveniles after officers responded to a large teen gathering Sunday night, July 5, 2026, that drew more than 25 emergency calls and later spilled into the area of Bellefontaine Road and Larimore Road, authorities said.
The shooting happened about 10:15 p.m. Sunday, July 5, in the 11000 block of Bellefontaine Road, according to the St. Louis County Police Department. Police said officers initially responded to a disturbance tied to a large house party in the 11000 block of Prendergast Lane, where the investigation later confirmed a gathering of between 150 and 200 teenagers at a home.
According to police, the Bureau of Communications received more than 25 calls between 8:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. reporting the disturbance and the subsequent officer-involved shooting. Neighbors reported loud disturbances, fights and fireworks on or near the property, police said.
As officers responded to clear the area, many of the juveniles left on foot, running through backyards and across private property, prompting additional 911 calls, according to police. Other callers reported seeing individuals with weapons. The crowds later moved to the intersection of Bellefontaine Road and Larimore Road, where the shooting occurred, police said.
Police said officers at that intersection were dealing with large crowds of teens who were discharging and throwing fireworks near police vehicles when a St. Louis County police officer “perceived a threat from a vehicle and fired his service weapon at the vehicle.”
A male and a female in the vehicle were struck by gunfire, police said. Police said both injured juveniles are in stable condition. A third juvenile suffered an abrasion caused by broken glass and was treated and released.
Nine juveniles were taken into custody at the shooting scene, but all were later released and no charges have been issued at this time, police said.
No officers were physically injured, according to police.
The officer involved is 33 years old and has six years of law enforcement experience, police said.
