Madison County Deputies Issue 26 Speeding Citations in July 2026

EDWARDSVILLE – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office said it issued 26 speeding citations during a July 2026 traffic safety campaign in Madison County, Illinois, part of a broader speed enforcement effort aimed at reducing highway fatalities.

The campaign was conducted throughout July by the Madison County Sheriff’s Office and other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois, according to the sheriff’s office. The agency said the effort was intended to remind motorists to slow down to save lives.

During the campaign, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office issued:

  • 26 speeding citations
  • 1 seat belt citation
  • 1 DUI arrest
  • 3 suspended or revoked license citations
  • 3 uninsured motorist citations

The sheriff’s office said the speed enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
