Highland Optimist Shootout Score Roundup

HIGHLAND – This is the 32nd Annual Highland Optimist Shootout. It’s a full day of basketball with eight games played. Below is a round-up of each game.

Highland 58 – Father McGivney 39

In the first game of the Highland Optimist Shootout Highland girl’s basketball team took on Father McGivney.

In the first quarter, Highland jumped out to an 18 to 10 lead. In the second quarter Highland extended their lead to 35 to 16 lead going into the locker room.

In the third quarter, Highland pushed their lead to 52 – 27 going into the final quarter. In the final quarter, Father McGivney outscored Highland 12-6. Highland is now 13 and 7 while Father McGivney dropped to 12-6.

Highland was led by Larissa Taylor with 21 points, and Jordan Bircher, and Abby Schultz both with 10 points. Father McGivney was led by Mia Lieberman with 14 points and Emily Johnson with 12 points.

Breese Central 34 – Highland 31

In the second game of the Highland Optimist Shootout Highland boy’s basketball team took on Breese Central.

In the first quarter, Highland jumped out to a 14 – 16 lead over the Cougars. In the second quarter Highland extended its lead to 19- 16 going into the locker room.

In the third quarter, Highland held on to the lead with a 31- 25 lead going into the final quarter. In the fourth quarter, Highland’s shooting went cold and they did not score a point. Breese Central outscored Highland 9-0.

Breese Central was led by Zane Schrage with 15 points. Highland was led by Garrin Stone with 12 points.

Quincy 62 – Cardinal Ritter 49

In the third game of the Highland Optimist Shootout Quincy faced off against Cardinal Ritter. Quincy came into this game with only one loss which came from Collinsville in the Collinsville Christmas Tournament.

In the first quarter, Quincy jumped out to a 17-10 over Cardinal Ritter. In the second quarter, Cardinal Ritter tied Quincy 25 -25 going into the locker room.

In the third quarter, they both came out shooting and both went into the final quarter tied 36-36. In the final quarter, Quincy was able to outscore Ritter 26-13.

Quincy was led by KeShaun Thomas with 19 points, Bradley Longcor III had 17 points and Ralph Wires had 11 points.

Ritter was led by Clayton Jackson with 11 points and Derrick Rivers with 10 points.

Vashon 86 – 60 Peoria Richwoods

In the fourth game of the Highland Optimist Shootout Vashon took on Peoria Richwoods.

Peoria Richwoods jumped out to a 17 to 13 lead after the first quarter but that was the only lead they would have. In the second quarter, Vashon took a 38-26 to go into the locker room.

In the third quarter, Vashon pushed their lead to 65 – 49 to go into the final quarter. In the final quarter Vashon outscored Peoria Richwoods 21-11.

Vashon was led by Trey Williams Jr. with 23 points, Nassir Binion with 15 points and Dehrio McCaskill with 12 points.

Richwoods was led by Lathan Sommerville with 23 points.

Vianney 85 – Whitney Young 70

In the fifth game of the Highland Optimist Shootout Viannry faced off with Whitney Young

In the first quarter, Whitney Young held onto a one-point lead 20-19. Vianney answered in the second quarter and scored 28 points to take a 47-36 to the locker room.

In the third quarter, Vianney extended their lead to 68-57 to go into the final quarter. Vianney outscored Whitney Young 17-13 to close out the game.

Vianney was led by Luke Walsh with 26 points and Symon Ghai with 20 points. Whitney Young was led by Nasir Rankin with 22 points.

Great Crossing KY 72 – Chaminade 46

In the sixth game of the Highland Optimist Shootout, Great Crossing of Kentucky faced off with Chaminade

In the first quarter, Great Crossing held onto a three-point lead 19-16. Great Crossing extended the lead in the second quarter and scored 23 points to take a 42- 24 to the locker room.

In the third quarter, Great Crossing extended their lead to 55-37 to go into the final quarter. Great Crossing outscored Chaminade 17-10 to close out the game.

Great Crossing was led by Vince Dawson III with 27 points and Junius Burrell with 11 points. Chaminade was led by Jacob Robinson with 13 points.

Normal Community 57 – Kenwood 43

In the seventh game of the Highland Optimist Shootout, Normal Community faced off with Kenwood.

In the first quarter, Normal Community jumped out to a 15-8 lead. Normal extended the lead in the second quarter and scored 16 points to take a 31- 14 to the locker room.

In the third quarter, Normal pushed their lead to 48- 23 to go into the final quarter. Kenwood outscored Normal 20-9 to close out the game.

Normal was led by Jaheem Weber with 15 points, and Craig Newsome with 11 points. Kenwood was led by Devin Cleveland with 11 points.

Thornton Township 63 – Metamora 62
