“Distracted driving endangers everyone, and we need the community’s support to keep our streets safe,” said Lt. Matt Senci. “While most people know texting while driving is illegal, the practice remains far too common. This April, we are partnering with IDOT to increase enforcement and remind motorists to put their phones away and drive distraction-free.”

In Illinois, handheld phone use while driving is both dangerous and illegal. Keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by IDOT.
