BASEBALL
FATHER MCGIVNEY CATHOLIC 11, PIASA SOUTHWESTERN 1: McGivney scored eight runs in the third and three in the fourth to take its sixth consecutive road win at Southwestern.
Patrick Gierer had two hits and two RBIs for the Griffins, while Jacoby Danco went all the way on the mound, striking out six. Blake Rimbey had two hits and the only RBI for the Piasa Birds, while both Alex Spangler and John Kunz fanned one each on the mound.
McGivney is now 13-3, while Southwestern goes to 4-9.
TRIAD 12, HIGHLAND 5: Triad opened with four runs in the first, then added on three runs in both the second and third innings, and came up with two runs in the sixth to take the Mississippi Valley Conference win at home over rival Highland.
Keegan Seipp had three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs for the Knights, while Nathan Klucker hit a two-run homer for his only hit and RBIs, and Carter Gaskill hit a solo home run. Nolan Keller struck out six while on the mound.
Triad is now 11-2, while the Bulldogs go to 4-10.
CIVIC MEMORIAL 7, WATERLOO 6: CM scored single runs in the first and third, and after Waterloo scored four runs in the top of the fourth and twice in the sixth to go ahead, the Eagles scored twice in the fifth, twice in the sixth to tie the game, and completed the comeback to score the winning run in the seventh to skip past the Bulldogs at the Bethalto Sports Complex.
Luke Clouser had four hits and two RBIs for CM, while Brady Hasenjaeger struck out three on the mound.
The Eagles are now 10-5, while Waterloo goes to 8-3.
MASCOUTAH 7, JERSEY 0: Mascoutah scored three runs in both the fourth and sixth innings, along with one in the fifth, to shut out Jersey on the road.
Abe Kribs had the Panthers’ only hit in the game, while both John Kodros and Brady Maxiener fanned one batter each on the mound.
The Indians are now 12-0, while Jersey slips to 10-3.
JACKSONVILLE 11, GRANITE CITY 7: Jacksonville scored three in the first and third, four in the sixth, and one more in the seventh to hold off a Granite City rally attempt and win at Babe Champions Field.
Evan Brewer had three hits, including two home runs, the first two for the Warriors in the new ballpark, and four RBIs, while Timo Bradley struck out one on the mound.
The Crimsons are now 9-5, while Granite goes to 4-7.
In other games played on Monday, Cahokia won over Riverview Gardens of north St. Louis County 13-2, Jacksonville Routt Catholic defeated Greenfield Northwestern 17-1, it was Waterloo Gibault Catholic winning over Sparta 9-4, the St. Louis Home School Patriots won at Valmeyer 17-12, Trenton Wesclin won at Carbondale 9-2, Alton exploded with nine runs in the third inning to help defeat Gillespie 19-6.
VOLLEYBALL
In the three matches played on Monday, Bunker Hill won a Missouri best-of-five sets match at Maplewood-Richmond Heights, 25-12, 25-9, 25-20, while O’Fallon held off St. Louis U. High at home, 25-15, 19-25, 25-23, and Granite City won over Father McGivney Catholic, 25-18, 26-22.
