Guilty Plea Filed In ‘OFallon Woman’s 2023 Death

O’FALLON, Ill. – A 51-year-old O’Fallon, Ill. man pleaded guilty Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in St. Clair County Court to involuntary manslaughter and obstructing justice in connection with the 2023 death of 31-year-old Allison Hartmire of O’Fallon, according to the O’Fallon Police Department.

David S. Shovlin entered a guilty plea on June 9, 2026, for his role in Hartmire’s death on Oct. 23, 2023, police said.

The charges were involuntary manslaughter, a Class 3 felony, and obstructing justice, a Class 4 felony.

Police said Hartmire was brought to Memorial East Hospital at about 2:49 a.m. on Oct. 23, 2023, with traumatic head injuries that resulted in her death.

The O’Fallon Police Department said it was contacted after Hartmire arrived at the hospital and, working with the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office, began what it described as an extensive investigation into the circumstances of her death.

According to the police department, Shovlin’s charges and convictions resulted from plea negotiations with the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Shovlin was not detained and is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 26, 2026, police said.
