COTTAGE HILLS – Madison County Sheriff’s detectives and the Madison County Coroner’s Office have been investigating the death of a 27-year-old woman since shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, June 21, 2026, after she was found dead in a creek area near the 1100 block of Lee Street in Cottage Hills, authorities said.
The woman was identified as Kayla C. Edwards, who was homeless, according to an update from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
“Since Sunday, June 21, shortly after 11 a.m., Madison County Sheriff’s Detectives and the Madison County Coroner’s Office have been investigating a death, as an adult female was located deceased in a creek area, in the general vicinity of the 1100 block of Lee St., Cottage Hills,” the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation is continuing, but “at this point, there is nothing to suggest that foul play was involved,” the sheriff’s office said.
