Finnley Joseph Bonvicino, 6, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He was born on October 8, 2018, in Richmond Heights, Missouri, the cherished son of Ashley Nicole Abbott and Joseph Mykl Bonvicino.
Though Finnley’s life was brief, and he did not have the chance to experience life in the traditional sense, his presence touched the hearts of all who knew him. Finnley found joy in the simple pleasures of life: feeling the sun on his face, the wind in his hair, and spending time outdoors. His face would light up at the sound of his family’s sweet voices. Fond memories include swinging, taking walks, camping with family, and enjoying golf cart rides.
He delighted in listening to all kinds of music, being read to, and swimming. Bath time was a cherished moment that brought him peace and serenity as he soaked in the tub. Finnley’s legacy is not measured in years but in the love and profound impact he had on those around him. May we honor his spirit by cherishing each moment, as his memory reminds us of life’s fragility and beauty.
He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents, Fay and Eva Abbott, Dennis and Charlotte Geier; his paternal great grandparents, Mary Baugus and Debra Krypciak; and his great-great grandmother, Shirley Wise.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his parents, Ashley N. Abbott and Joseph M. Bonvicino, both of Granite City, Illinois; his maternal grandparents, Denise and Wilbert “Wil” Abbott; his paternal grandparents, Michelle and Michael “Mike” Bonvicino; his paternal great grandparents, Joseph Baugus, Larry Coker and Carol and Homer Smith; his aunts and uncles, Austin Bonvicino, Madison Dietz, Alec Bonvicino, and Alyssa Abbott; and many other relatives and family friends.
