ST. LOUIS COUNTY – St. Louis County prosecutors have charged two teenagers in connection with a shooting that damaged multiple homes and vehicles, authorities said Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office said May 20, 2026, that Malachi Lane, 19, of the 8400 block of Concord Place in St. Louis, and Courtenay Rogers, 18, of the 11000 block of Sugar Pines Court in Florissant, Mo., were each charged with unlawful use of a weapon, subsection 9 — shooting at or from a motor vehicle, at a person, motor vehicle or building — and one count of armed criminal action.
Both are being held on $200,000 cash-only bonds with no 10% option, according to the prosecuting attorney’s office.
According to probable cause statements, police received a call May 19, 2026, for a shooting with multiple shots fired in St. Louis County. A witness reported seeing, and surveillance video showed, a group of men discharging firearms in the direction of the witness’s neighbor, the statements said. Multiple homes and vehicles were struck by gunfire during the shooting.
Police canvassing the area were directed by witnesses to a blue vehicle parked outside a home, according to the probable cause statements. While conducting surveillance on the home, officers saw the blue vehicle leave and a Lyft vehicle arrive, the statements said. Four people, including Lane and Rogers, then exited the home and entered the Lyft vehicle.
When police made contact with Lane and Rogers, both were in possession of firearms that would be consistent with preliminary ballistic evidence from the shooting scene, according to the probable cause statements. The statements also said both had clothing in their bags matching clothing worn by the perpetrators seen on surveillance video at and near the crime scene.
Authorities said the defendants were arrested about 800 feet from the shooting scene.
The St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons is investigating.
The prosecuting attorney’s office noted that charges are accusations and that the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
